CLINICIANS/INSTRUCTORS Cooper Castleberry, Referee - Big 12 Conference Started officiating in 1978. He became a referee in 1979 and has worked the position ever since. His career includes working at the high school level from 1978 through 1998, Southland Conference from 1994 through 1998, Western Athletic Conference from 1999 through 2001 and the Big 12 Conference (CFO-West) from 2002 to present. He has had 17 bowl and post-season play-off assignments including the Big 12 Championship, 2008 FCS Division 1 National Championship and the 2017 FBS National Championship. He remains very active in the SFA Chapter as well as TASO (TASO-Football President 2011-12) and is the UIL State Football Rules Interpreter.
Greg Adams, Umpire – Conference USA Greg began officiating in the late 90’s as a member of the Permian Basin Chapter. He relocated to the Houston area in 2008 and transferred his membership to the Houston Chapter. Greg began working college football in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference from 2001 through 2003. He then began working in the Lone Star and America Southwest Conference from 2003 through 2007. In 2007, he was hired by the SWAC and C-USA as an Umpire. Greg has had the honor to work 2 Texas High School State Championships, 2 East-West Shrine College All-Star Games, 3 Texas vs The Nation College All-Star Games, 2 SWAC Championships and 2 Conference USA Championships. Greg has also worked the 2009 Chick-fil-A Bowl, the 2010 Alamo Bowl, and the 2012 Las Vegas Bowl. He will continue working for C-USA in the upcoming 2013 season along with remaining an active member of the TASO Houston Football Chapter and the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
Cal McNeill, Head Linesman - Big 12 Conference Started officiating in 1985 as a Head Linesman in the High School ranks before moving to referee. In 1992 at he worked in the Junior College conference; 1995 the Lone Star conference; 1997 the Southland Conference; 2000 the Sun Belt Conference; 2007 The Western Athletic Conference. Since 2008, he has officiated in the Big 12 and Mountain West Conferences. He has worked ten (10) post season bowl assignments, the latest being the 2013 Capital One Bowl between Nebraska and Georgia. Cal continues to support his local chapter and state organization serving as an officer and board member at both the local and state level.
Frank LeBlanc, Line Judge - Big 12 Conference Frank began his high school football officiating career in 1994 as a member of the Beaumont Chapter. He relocated to the Houston area in 2005 and joined the Houston Chapter where he is a current member and works on the New Members Training and New Crew Training committees. He began his collegiate career in 2001 as a line judge in the Southwest Athletic Conference (SWAC). He worked in the SWAC until 2006 when he accepted an invitation to join the Southland Conference. Two years later in 2008, he joined the CFO-West working games in the Southland, Mountain West and Big 12 Conferences. He has worked many high school playoff games as well as several NCAA bowl games. They include the 2010 Holiday Bowl, 2011 Meineke Bowl, 2012 Russell Athletic Bowl and the 2013 Beef O'Brady's Bowl. Frank will work the 2014 season with the CFO-West and continue to be very active in the TASO-Football Houston Chapter.
Joel Wetzel, Back Judge - Big 12 Conference Joel began his officiating career in 1990 working in the South Plains Chapter. His collegiate career began eight years later when he was asked to work in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC). He was hired by the Southland Conference in 2003 and then by the Big 12 Conference in 2008. He was the Back Judge in the 2017 FBS National Championship between Clemson and Alabama. Joel has a passion for football officiating and enjoys helping and giving back to the game as evidenced by his year long training programs in the Houston Chapter. He has worked many high school and collegiate post-season games. He loves his family and crew mates and the constant of getting better...at both!
